High fidelity speaker system with intelligent lighting.

project brief

The goal with Prism Pulse was to explore the development of a 2.2 sound system with a primary emphasis on the functionality of what would become the final model. The majority of the parts for the speaker system can be printed on a Prusa-style FDM printer, making this system accessible to both makers and audiophiles alike. Once the speakers’ functionality was figured out, the focus shifted to developing an aesthetically pleasing facade that featured an LED lighting element.

TUNING THE SUBWOOFER

I began by designing a basic housing for the plate amplifier and then expanded it with two mirrored components to secure the drivers. Initially, I capped off the open ends, but it quickly became clear that achieving a decent bass response would require precise calculations and experimentation with the shape and length of the air ports on either side of the drivers.
